In Ontario, the provincial government has announced plans to assist workers in 30 in-demand professions with finding work in Ontario. Measures include accepting out-of-province fall safety training and allowing workers in those professions to register in Ontario within a month of arrival in the province.

In Ontario, industry lobby group Canadian Federation for Independent Business has awarded the provincial government “top marks” for regulatory accountability, citing substantial recent reductions in red tape and “regulatory agility” during the pandemic.

In B.C., the RCMP have released footage of alleged attacks that occurred at a Coastal GasLink pipeline construction site near Houston, B.C. The attackers, some wielding axes, are alleged to have caused millions of dollars of damage and injured a responding police officer.

In commentary, two construction economists gave their opinions on the effects of high costs and high uncertainty on the industry, and provided predictions for the year ahead.
